and all the cognate elements of Bhava, Raga and Tala reveal
themselves as all in one.
1. Teermana Korvais - ending steps.

Bharatanatyam.
Doordarshan Archives.
VCD. $10.00
Dynamic in form, sacred in Spirit. Catalog : M100/05V. |
The ancient temple dance art of
South India was offered in devotional ritual as a part of
worship. It mapped the human heart through exploring the
dynamics of vipralambha [separation from] and sambhoga [union]
with the Divine. Falling into colonial disgrace under the
British, the dance was revived in the 20th century and flowered
into neo-classical splendour through generations of contemporary
Indian Dancers.
Introduced by Shobana. |

The dance of the enchantress. Catalog : M100/10V. |
'The Dance of the Enchantress',
this genre was invented in medieval times for the delectation
of courtly male connoisseurs of Kathakali. The legendary poet of

dereliction. This slow, seductive form is usually danced to
languorous tunes taken from the old Kerala tradition of Sopana
Sangeetam with distinct lyrics.
Introduced by Dr. Neena Prasad. |
